The ŠKODA Tour De Conamara event offers participants the choice of 140km or 80km routes and travels along the Wild Atlantic Way and into valleys, mountainous landscape and some of Ireland’s best known lakes. This is recognised as Ireland’s most picturesque sportive.
ŠKODA Tour de Conamara Strava Routes
The event starts in Clifden at the Station House Hotel at 9.30 am leaving in the direction of Ballyconnelly. Cyclists will soon be coasting along white sandy beaches and coral waters at Mannin Bay just a few kilometres into the spin. The route continues towards the picturesque coastal village of Roundstone with fantastic views of the Twelve Bens and coastal scenery as cyclists pass Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay before Roundstone. Then it is off towards Cashel and the turn off when the 140KM event heads into beautiful south Connemara and into the coastal village of Carna for the first food stop. More coastal cycling along Kilkieran Bay overlooking Lettermore and Gorumna Islands until the route turns into Maam Valley.
A completely different view of Connemara is now is front of cyclists from the breath-taking Maunturk Mountains and the Maam Valley itself. After 90km the second food stop is located in Maam before preparing for the last leg to Clifden. The PowerBar team will also be on hand at Maam with the Refuel station alongside the event refreshment services.
On the right is Joyce’s County and on your left are the Maumturk Mountains as you now cycle towards the beautiful village of Leenane and more waterside cycling as you cruise along Killary Harbour. The finish line is nearly in sight as you reach Kylemore Lough and past the picturesque Kylemore Abbey. The last leg provides a few hilly surprises for cyclists with a couple of drags but after Letterfrack you will enjoy the most spectacular finish to a sportive through Connemara National Park. It’s a steady downward pedal back into Clifden for the famous ŠKODA Tour de Conamara welcome and the completion of the most picturesque sportive in Ireland. Your Summer of Cycling will have officially started.

The 80km route takes a left turn after Cashel in the direction of Recess and then into the Inagh Valley. This is cycling at its finest. Coast along Lough Inagh surrounded by The Twelve Bens on one side and Maumturk Mountains to your left. The cyclists continue by Kylemore Lough and past the picturesque setting of Kylemore Abbey. The last 20km provides a few hilly surprises for cyclists (the scenery will take your mind off it) with a couple of drags.
After Letterfrack you will enjoy the most spectacular finish to a sportive through Connemara National Park. It’s a steady downward pedal back into Clifden for the famous ŠKODA Tour de Conamara welcome and your completion of the most picturesque sportive in Ireland. Your Summer of Cycling will have officially started.
